The Sunday trip on the Polaris is only a shakedown cruise, and the gang is not actually assigned to the ship until Friday. BUT it says they're going to Mars. In next Sunday's strip (which you'll see next week), they'll tooling around the solar system - but do NOT go to Mars. The Sundays seem almost intended to be self-contained vignettes.
