Try to track down the 2004 film My Name is Modesty, an account of the early days of the character rising to a position of responsibility in the Louche gang, well before she started the Network. It's not perfect. but it's very much in the spirit of the character, and flashes back to her beginnings as a survivor.
I remember this, but didn't see it.

ReplyDeleteThe ****ing U.S.-centric producers transplanted Modesty & Willie to Los Angles. Willie did not own a quaint English pub, but ran a Disco club.

ReplyDeleteMy Name Is Modesty is definitely worth seeing, though it takes place before Willie is introduced.
