I'd forgotten about Rathbone's hair being swept forward on the sides but it really shows on the top picture. I think he did this in the later movies, perhaps because his own hair was thinning.
It's been awhile since I've watched a Rathbone film. My first film I bought on VHS as a kid was DRESSED TO KILL. Still, the first two will always be the best in the series. Detailed, atmospheric storytelling.

ReplyDeleteToo true, David. After them I'd probably rank the Rathbone-Bruce radio shows, followed by the rest of the films.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why it says "Not suitable for general distribution"?

ReplyDeleteI see that on a lot of old Australian posters. They must have had some funny ideas about what was suitable for kids.
