Thanks for these vintage posters. Interesting how the style is so "tame" by comparison with pulp covers.
I like the early RR films, too. He was a natural in front of the camera and didn't always play a good guy either. I don't know his story, but I'd be interested in knowing how he got from his singing career with the Sons of the Pioneers into an acting career.
Republic in his days make a ton of movies, from what i can see. There is some kind of story what is NOT in his catalogue?
ReplyDeleteI can't think of any kind of film Republic didn't make - except boring ones.
ReplyDeleteWho is this Mary Hart and what did she do with Dale Evans.
ReplyDeleteIf I remember rightly, Roy and Dale had not yet met. The Roy & Mary thing was purely platonic, I'm sure. Well, sorta sure.
ReplyDeleteNever was a fan of his films but my dad was and listened to the Sons of the Pioneers all the time. Great music.
ReplyDeleteI like Roy's older films best because some were set in the Old West rather than the 1940's West, and did not rely so much on the singing.
