Overlooked Films: Captain Blood (1935)

Erroll Flynn. Basil Rathbone. Flashing swords. Pirate talk. Toy ships fighting in the Warner Brothers tub. Adventure doesn't get more adventurous than this.

I yapped a bit about THE BOOK on Friday, and how I never get enough of it. Same thing here. Don't know how many times I've seen it, but I know I'll be seeing it again.

More Overlooked Films (and probably more blood) at Sweet Freedom.

  1. It was good but still feel the same way about Scaramouche on the screen. It has the best sword duel of any film I've seen. Thanks.

  2. Was this up at 7am PT/10 am ET? I couldn't find it, and I thought I'd checked again by then.

Sorry, but perhaps we'll catch some by the second wind (and I'll add it next week as well). A hell of a film, indeed.

Particularly when compare to the merely good, such as THE SPANISH MAIN...which for me is particularly amusing for a key role by Fritz Leiber, Sr., the writer's near-lookalike father.
