I... i have no words about this. Again. I mean, after knowing the massacre done with these paperbacks editions i am... Well. Was daring to do it. maybe too daring.
The Pocket Books editions were trying to appeal to fans of the Executioner and Destroyer, and/or Mike Hammer and Matt Helm. The Berkley paperbacks in 1969-70 were closer to the original pulp version (mask, hat, and cape). But then, some Doc Savage fans found Bantam's covers (crew cut and widow's peak) repulsive.

ReplyDeleteMaybe they should be banned and trotted out only during Banned Books Week.
