I remember these from the 1970's. I've heard that the model for the covers was Steve Holland, who may be best known as the model for Bantam's Doc Savage book covers. In both the original pulp magazine and the paperback book reprints, the author was billed as Kenneth Robeson, "the creator of Doc Savage," but it was actually another writer using the same house name. And DC Comics published an Avenger series in the 1970s, although the comic was entitled "Justice Inc." Maybe to avoid confusion with Marvel Comics' "The Avengers."

ReplyDeleteYeah, most of these were written by Paul Ernst, who was nowhere near as good as Lester Dent.
