This was Cesar Romero's first (of six) rides in Cisco's saddle. He was pretty good, but my vote for the all-time coolest Cisco goes to Gilbert Roland. Others of interest in this film are Ward Bond and one-time Philip Marlowe (The Brasher Doubloon) George Montgomery.

I've seen several of the Cisco Kid movies with Romero, and his outfits are to die for.
ReplyDeleteEvan - Interesting post. I've gained some new appreciation for Ceasar Romero after watching him in FRONTIER MARSHAL (which we shared commentary on). Did not know he played the Cisco Kid nor did I realize there were SO MANY Cisco Kid movies! I had a scant awareness of the Academy Award-winner with Warner Baxter and, of course, the old TV series ... Did you notice that Cisco's companion (Gordito, not Pancho)in CISCO AND THE LADY was the same actor who played the bartender whose little son was saved by the surgery performed by Romero as Doc Holliday in FRONTIER MARSHAL? ... Interestinger and interestinger, if I may con a phrase ...
ReplyDeleteThough i've seen many a cisco Kid Movies of the old, this one is a new for me.
ReplyDeleteAs you've mentioned, Ward Band is also My choice.
I'm a Duncan Reynaldo man through and through.
ReplyDeleteThen why, you may ask, can't I spell Renaldo?
