Cap Gun Monday: Hubley DEPUTY

Here's another of those not-too-usual guns with metal grips. These grips are particularly unusual in that they feature all this fancy scrollwork. And I can't think of another gun with this train trestle-like structure mounted atop the barrel.

Don't know if this pistol was ever marketed as a tie-in with The Deputy series starring Henry Fonda, but it's surely possible.

  6. Sorry, I bought my guns about 20 years ago, mostly at flea markets. Then I stopped going to flea markets (marriage and responsibility will do that to you) so I'm out of touch with current values. Your best source is probably eBay or the dealers with links on nicholscapguns.com. As with all collectibles, condition is all important. Does the trigger and hammer mechanism work smoothly? Is there corrosion inside the cap chamber or under the hammer? Is the metal surface scratched? Is it still bright and clean? Is the black paint on the grip shiny and strong, or faded and scratched? I'm not asking you to tell me, because I still couldn't give you a value, but those are things a buyer would consider in determining how much to pay.
