Bad timing; this was when Asian-American pressure groups started complaining about racial cross-casting. In the original theatrical movie, Joel Grey played Chuin. The pressure-group complaints did much to sink the movie. ABC burned off this pilot during the summer doldrums, when nobody was at home watching TV.
A little slow getting started, but turned out fine. Did it become a series on TV?
