My friends the O'Connor brothers always got the cereal premiums back in the fifties! They had every Space Patrol and Tom Corbett item just as soon as they were advertised. I was so jealous as I had a hard time affording my fix of ten cent comic books. One Sgt. Preston item we anxiously waited for it's arrival was a camping kit that included some cooking utensils and a tent! The cooking utensils were like military ones but smaller in scale and much, much thinner aluminum. The tent was a big disappointment because it was a giant sheet of opaque plastic food wrap with flimsy wooden dowels for poles and some string. A good sneeze could blow it over.
I liked the radio show a lot, but I don't want or need on of these gizmos.
ReplyDeleteJust wait til the next time you're lost in the North woods.

ReplyDeleteMy one foray into buying a premium was a Mr. Peanut pen and pencil set. I have no idea what happened to it.
