Roland is a decent Cisco but Duncan Renaldo is the best, and Leo Carillo is far and away a better sidekick than Crispin Martin. Write that down so you don't forget it.
Here's an explanation I found on ciscokid.info: When Monogram Pictures Corporation sold their Cisco Kid series of films to television in 1949, United Artists had acquired and now held the rights to the O'Henry characters, and the company was forced to dub-over and pronounce another name in every reference to Cisco, Cisco Kid and Pancho.
I liked the Cisco Kid, and Poncho. I even named a cat Cisco once, many years ago.
ReplyDeleteI had a Cisco cat once, too. Was disappointed he didn't chain smoke or chase girly cats.

ReplyDeleteLeo is more fun than Crispy, but Dunc is a snoozer compared to Gil. Don't fret, you have five more Gil entries to watch.
ReplyDeleteDo you know the reason why the sound is overdubbed each time the name Cisco or Cisco Kid is said? I'm just curious. Thanks for posting the movie!
