Thanks to a tip from Mr. Art Scott, who knows all and sees all in the Mystery world, I've been drooling over these books on the Heritage auction site, HERE. Check 'em out, if you're lucky enough to be a lot richer than me, drop a bid.
I got a kick out of seeing a set of 10 Spivak Hammett digests at $500. Those used to to be a staple of the Lancecon auctions, like the Hammett mapbacks.
That's where I got my set of Spivaks, and most of the mapbacks, too. It was the hunt for Hammett mapbacks that led me to Lance's basement, where I first laid eyes on Bruce Taylor and heard that magic word, DAPA-EM.
Those are in amazingly good condition. I'll bet he upgraded several times over the years. Again I wonder, why is he selling these books?
