The Five WORST Christmas Songs of All Time? You Be the Judge.

This Hall of Christmas Shame was proposed by a local deejay. Are they really the worst? I'm no judge. Even the best sound pretty bad to me.

. . .  and here's a late nominee from Keith West:

  1. "His Favorite Christmas Story" by Capital Lights

A traveling salesman meets at girl at a dance in 1937 on Christmas Eve. He waits until the last dance to ask her to dance. There seems to be some spark, but the doofus doesn't get her name or contact information. Apparently he doesn't try to find her after that night. Instead he spends the rest of his life telling everyone about this great girl he met and lost. When he's older (single and living alone) the neighborhood kids come to his house every Christmas Eve to hear him tell this story. (Yeah, right. No kid I know would want to hear that story more than once.) The song ends on a Christmas morning with him dying alone except for the hospice nurse. He asks her to tell him and story and she tells the story from her point of view. Nothing cheerful about the song, even though it has a peppy, upbeat tune.

  2. Thanks Keith. I've added that one to the post.

  3. I can't decide if this one is one of the worst or one of the best Christmas songs.

  4. I'd still take some of them ahead of The Twelve Days of Christmas.

  5. Find 12 Gifts of Christmas by Allen Sherman. Still Funny.
