So this isn't the same as The Man in the Iron Mask, is it?

Yup, it is. One of the books in the extended series of Three (and Four) Musketeer adventures.

This is the silent version and the sound version came in the late 1930's, directed by James Whale. The Fairbanks adventure is sort of overlooked today, but with Allan Dwan directing, this is worth watching. As you can see by the 1929 release date this film falls right in the middle of the transition to sound, and is one of those hybrid features that was originally shot as a silent, but then had to be transformed into a sound film. There is a music soundtrack and the narration by Fairbanks makes this a near mythic adventure and a great farewell to the Musketeers and Fairbanks' D'Artagnan.
