Basically, Donald Wollheim wanting to revive, in a fashion, the Farnsworth Wright WEIRD TALES because he didn't much care for Dorothy McIlwraith's modernizing the magazine. I prefer the McIlwraith magazine, but AVON FANTASY definitely has charm. And, indeed, impressive covers. Better than WT often did in the earlier years, to be sure.
