From 1955 comes the beginning of the saga of the Official Walt Disney Davy Crockett. The art on this one is credited to John Ushler. Thanks to readcomiconline.li for the scans. This tale, based on the first Disney episode, is highly fictionalized account of Davy's doings during the Creek Indian War. It was loosely based on Davy's own fictionized account in his autobiography. For still another version of what old Davy might have been doing at this time (more fictionalized than Davy's, but less than Disney's) I refer you to the novel Crockett's Devil by Evan Lewis (I'll be danged if that name don't sound familiar) published a while back by Steeger Books.
