Jean Lafitte, "Pirate and Patriot," as envisioned by Reed Crandall

This time, I'm sending you to the fine blog Pauline's Pirates & Privateers to enjoy a six page Lafitte tale from the December 1958 issue of Treasure Chest of Fun & Fact. Pauline credits Mr. Door Tree of the fine blog Golden Age Comic Book Stories for the piece, so I'm indebted to both Door and Pauline. And belatedly to the great Blackhawk and E.C. artist Reed Crandall, for making it very easy to look at.

The story is here:

My story "The Judgment of Jean Lafitte" would be a lot better if it, too, were illustrated by Reed Crandall, but I hope you'll like it anyway.  It's HERE, in ACTION: Pulse Pounding Tales Vol. 1.

Crandall was one of my favorite comic artists. His Swiss Family Robinson for Classics Illustrated is a great piece of work. He did a lot of work for Treasure Chest, too, other than this neat story.
