Art Gallery: THE SPIDER 1, 2 & 3 (1933)

To be Continued . . . !

The Spider was so similar to the Shadow that I'm surprised there wasn't (AFAIK) a lawsuit. The characters actually had more similarities than Superman and Captain Marvel. But then, by the mid 1930s, the pulp magazines were all full of mysterious crime-fighting heroes, too many to count. And you can't sue everybody.

Columbia made two Spider movie serials in the late 1930's, both starring Warren Hull. There may have also been a short-lived radio show.
