Mort Kunstler sweat mag art

Artist Mort Kunstler, best known for the Civil War paintings he did in the '80s, began his career in the '50s and '60s, churning out covers and interior illos for men's action magazines like Stag and Male. It was great stuff, and we'll be seeing more of it.

There are an insane number of Kunstler Civil War (and other wars) books, but if there's a sweat mag collection, I ain't seen it.

We have a couple of Kunstler's CW paintings.

I would really, really like to see the story that goes with that last illustration.

It was from the May 1961 issue of Man's Life, Shay, and the story was "Breakout from the All-Girl Stalag 1140." Happy hunting.
