This is the wrong poster for the 1930's film Dawn Patrol, directed by Howard Hawks and starring Richard Barthelmess, Douglas Fairbanks Jr, and Neil Hamilton (who was a pretty strong leading man decades before he played Commissioner Gordon) This poster is for the remake from 1938, which starred Errol Flynn, David Niven, and Basil Rathbone. But actually the remake is a better film and Flynn gives one of his best performances. And it is also nice to watch Rathbone and Flynn's characters become friends in this story instead of them going at each other with swords. The earlier film, who's flying footage was reused in the remake, is very slow and is not quite as good as Hell's Angels, which sports actual Fokker D7s, or the earlier Wings. The Bat Whispers is looked at as a major influence on Bob Kane and Bill Finger in their creation of The Batman.
