Randolph Scott was the coolest, suavest CB in western movies. Thanks.

He's one of my favorites too. Hard to rank them, but he's definitely top 5.

Randy, The Man from Virginia, is one of my favorite Western stars. Top 3. I was rushing out to get the Budd Boetticher/Randolph Scott 5 film dvd set set when it came out two years ago -- a must have if for nothing other than THE TALL T.

And if you have not watched (or seen before) SEVEN MEN FROM NOW, it is one of my top ten Western favorite films, about a former sheriff set out to take revenge on the men who held up a Wells Fargo office, killing Scott's wife in the process.

Directed by Boetticher, scripted by Burt Kennedy, the supporting cast includes Gail Russell, Walter Reed, Don "Red" Barry and Lee Marvin at his villainous best.

Have to watch SEVEN MEN FROM NOW at least once a year! (Can you hear me foaming at the mouth?)

It's a shame that Scott is a forgotten figure to anyone under 35. But to any fan of 40s and 50s Westerns, Randolph Scott is a giant.

It's hard to tell Scott is even in BELLE STAR from that poster.

I would have to agree that Randolph Scott is one of the very best western actors, maybe even the best. I have almost all his westerns and have seen most more than once. The Encore Western Channel shows his films quite often.

Nuts. No Encore Western Channel here.

I'll be looking for Seven Men From Now, Tom!

The Encore Western Channel - along with TCM, pretty much the only way to view westerns other than the blockbuster movies that are constantly being shown on AMC like Unforgiven. Thanks for the primer on Randolph Scott - someone I haven't paid much attention to, I'm ashamed to say.

SEVEN MEN FROM NOW is absolutely top notch. Also RIDE THE HIGH COUNTRY. Great stuff.

The top Western star.

Wayne overall as a movie star, but Scott reigns (reins?).

That Boetticher set of Randolph Scott westerns is pure gold, although 7 Men From Now isn't on it. One of those rare perfect blends of director and actor.

I think the Budd Boetticher films with Scott are some of the best westerns made.

Funny that I don't have as much a sense of him as some of the others. Maybe because his roles were more straight westerns than arty westerns.
