On another blog, I read that some pulps were sold "under the counter" and you had to ask for them; they were never openly displayed. Was that true of the various "Spicy" pulps?
I think it sometimes depended on the State (or even city) they were sold in. The Trojan line (publisher of the Spicys) also sometimes did two versions of the same issue, one with a star on the cover and the other without. If I remember right, the star editions were slightly less spicy.
