Now that we're no longer allowed to revere old Chris Columbus, maybe we should start celebrating Bjarni Herjulfson Day. This little history lesson comes to us from the 336th issue of Treasure Chest, from Jan. 17, 1963. The stylish art is credited to Emil Rodriguez, but reminds me of two or three other guys.

We can’t celebrate Columbus anymore? Why?
Like everything else, Rick, it's racist.
Good art in this story. Reed Crandall used to do a lot of work for Treasure Chest but I don't think he was on this one.
Though Columbus Day is still a federal holiday, the media wants us to believe it's defunct and has been replaced by "Indigenous People's Day," celebrated on the same date. And where the media goes, the gov't will undoubtedly soon follow. Many Columbus statues have already been removed or pulled down. I think they should be replaced by statues of old Bjarni Herjulfson. A Viking would look way cooler than a guy in puffy short-shorts and tights, anyway.
Emilo D. Rodriquez was born in the Philippines in 1937, and both taught art and drew comics, until he moved to the USA in the early 1960s, where he taught art and drew comics for Treasure Chest.
