The 100-page Classics Illustrated Special Edition, BLAZING THE TRAILS WEST featured this chapter devoted to Texas independence. The art is credited to John Severin. Some of it looks a bit like him, some not so much. My apologies for the lousy image quality. This is the best I could find.

Positively John Severin all the way. Severin says that working for Gilberton was not a happy experience for him in the new TwoMorrows bio of Severin. His displeasure was not with this piece but with his Kit Carson entry and the CI The Last of the Mohicans.
