White hats are a bad choice for the west: the get dirty in no time, with all those sand, and dust, and many smelly things!

Whenever I think of Buck Jones now I'm drawn to the James Reasoner tale "One Night Near Hangtown."

Yes, but Deka and David, in the B-westerns the good guys always wore the white hats and the bad guys wore the black hats!

Buck Jones is a big favorite of mine and died a hero in the big nightclub fire.

yeah, Walker have a point... And if the hat were gray the character was dobtful about who support: The hero or the villain.
