HOLLYWOOD DETECTIVE: The Case of the Poisoned Puppet
Most issues of Hollywood Detective had a Dan Turner comic story along with the prose adventures. Why they made him look like a grown up Jimmy Olsen I'll never know. This one is from May 1943, the same issue as 'Shakedown Sham'.
I know Wild West Weekly had comics on and off during its life - basically I think they were trying to grab ahold of some of the market they had lost to the comic books. But they never really took off. Nice scans - thanks for posting them.

Any of those comics feature Sonny, Kid Wolf or other regulars from the prose stories? Those would be mighty interesting to see.
I want to say that there were a few with Sonny, but I can't be sure. I can take a look.
"The Dickens you gargle!"? Is that some obscure euphemism for "The hell you say!"?
Good catch, Craig. The ability to translate Bellemese into English without footnotes is a mark of distinction.
"Cop a swivel?" Great literature, perhaps not. Colorful? You betcha.
Thanks. I guess reading those Jim Anthony, Super-Detective novels paid off after all. :)
