YouTube Theater: THE FAT MAN (1951)

According to Hammett's agent, the Fat Man radio show was based on Caspar Gutman. Do I buy that? Maybe, if it was strictly the creation of that agent, who was clueless about the Continental Op. Hard to believe that Hammett, no matter how broke or drunk he was at the time, would have conceived such an outrageous notion.

I love how the movie has to start out selling the audience on the hero of the film is worth watching by showing him doing all these things like dancing and such. Actually a pretty good mystery film. And shows William Castle's direction before his ballyhoo period.

I just watched it and I'm trying to recall how many people survived. Not many. Still, I enjoyed the fim and Smart's performance. When he danced I was reminded of you, if you were 50 pounds heavier.
