Great stuff, Evan, reminiscent of the imaginative back covers of AMAZING STORIES by Frank R. Paul and James B. Settles in the late Thirties and Forties.
My thoughts exactly. The Martian seems a cross between Frank R. Paul and Edgar Rice Burroughs.
Correct to the smallest detail. I don't know how they did it.
It was the comic book artists of the time, their technical abilities were quite `astounding` (if you`ll pardon the pun).
Seems this is s repost, right? I know I’ve seen it before.
