TOM CORBETT, SPACE CADET Comic Strip Week 2 (1951)
Thanks once again to collector extraordinaire Larry Paschelke, here's the second week of Tom's spacy adventures in the funny papers. If you missed Week 1, that's HERE.
The continuity seemed a bit off to me, too, but I double-checked the dates (printed on each strip) and this is the correct sequence. The Sunday trip on the Polaris is only a shakedown cruise, and the gang is not actually assigned to the ship until Friday. BUT it says they're going to Mars. In next Sunday's strip (which you'll see next week), they'll tooling around the solar system - but do NOT go to Mars. The Sundays seem almost intended to be self-contained vignettes. We'll see if they're better integrated as the strip continues.

The color page seems to be in advance of the others in the story...
More! This is good stuff.

Very often Sundays and dailies had their own continuities.
