Is it too late to order the Big Dick?

There were rumors in the late 1960s that the real M-16 rifles (which had recently been adopted for standard issue by the US military) were made by the Mattel toy company.

Mattel making guns for the Army sounds like anti-war propaganda, but if true, they would have been swell.

I can't think of a G-rated response to the Cap'n's comment.

I had a machine gun when I was a kid. I had $5.00, which was a massive amount of money in those days, and got a Marx (I think) machine gun with a tripod. It took D cell batteries and when you pressed the trigger it made a great m.g. sound and the red tip of the barrel pumped in and out. I was a miniature version of the M-2 .50 caliber.

A Vietnam vet told me many GIs called the M-16 a Mattel-16 because of its resemblance to a toy.

Think of how many kids these days could get killed for playing with these in public.
