April has got to be one of the finest Spicy covers of all. Could the villain possibly look sleazier or more depraved?
But how about that shadow falling across his gross bulk? Why, that's your pistol, dear reader. Ward makes us viewers into the rescuer of that poor beleaguered woman. Wonderful.
I understand that it was this cover that NYC mayor Fiorello La Guardia spotted on the newsstand and was so repulsed he made Spicy pulps unsalable in New York. I know he's often remembered as a great mayor, but I find that pretty hard to forgive.
